The Passing of Renowned Oscar-Winning Actor Robert Duvall at age 95

The National Steeplechase Association joins with movie fans across the world in mourning the passing of renowned Oscar-winning actor Robert Duvall at age 95.

Duval, whose career spanned some seven decades and included unforgettable performances such as Corleone Family consigliere Tom Hagen in The Godfather, was an equine enthusiast and he frequently attended of the Virginia Gold Cup Races in The Plains, located near his 360-acre estate in Middleburg.

Duval often portrayed cowboys in Westerns like Lonesome Dove, and was himself an accomplished rider. During his many visits to Great Meadow Race Course, Duvall was invited to present the trophy to the winning connections.
