Eight races worth $190,000 are on tap for Saturday as steeplechasing makes its way to Maryland and Virginia.
The historic Maryland Timber Triple gets underway in Monkton, about 30 miles north of Baltimore with the $50,000 My Lady’s Manor stakes, the centerpiece of the four-race, $105,000 card. The race, first contested in 1902, has drawn a competitive field of six led by last year’s winner, Daniel Colhoun, Achsah O’Donovan, and Harvey Goolsby’s Bogey’s Image, along with,Daniel Baker’s 2025 Maryland Hunt Cup titlist Road to Oz, and Potter Group USA, Gaskells Waste Services, and Ashwell Stable’s Uco Valley, a three-time timber stakes runner up last season, who kicked off 2026 with an allowance score at Cheshire two weeks ago.
Also in the field are Upland Partners’ Bob’s Bar, a maiden and allowance winner last season, William Russell’s Animal Kingston, who scored in the steeplethon over mixed obstacles at Callaway Gardens in November, and Greenlights’ The Butler Yates, who notched the Genesee Valley Hunt Cup in the fall.
The My Lady’s Manor, at 3 miles, is the first of three timber races at increasing distances over three successive Saturdays. The second leg, the Grand National, will be contested on April 18, in Butler, at 3 ¼ miles. The crown jewel is the 129th running of the Maryland Hunt Cup on April 25 in Glyndon, at 4 miles.
In addition to the stakes feature at the Manor, there are a pair of $20,000 maiden events, the John Rush Streett Memorial and Thomas H. Voss Memorial; and the $15,000 John D. Schapiro Memorial allowance restricted to apprentice jockeys and horses that failed to win a stakes in 2025-2026. All are 3 miles. The My Lady’s Manor stakes will be race one on the program, with a post time of 1:30 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. Click here for the complete entries: https://nationalsteeplechase.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/My-Ladys-Manor-Monday.pdf
Also on Saturday, in Berryville, Va., the Blue Ridge Hunt Point to Point will for the third time feature NSA sanctioned races: a $15,000 maiden over timber at 3 miles; $30,000 maiden hurdle at 2 miles; and a pair of $20,000 maiden starter hurdles at 2 miles for horses who previously started for a claiming tag of $16,000 or less or are entered for a $16,000 tag.
The race day will also include a Blue Ridge Hunt Foxhound Parade, a Nantucket-Treweryn Beagles Parade, a carriage parade, the kid’s zone, a stick horse race, an antique and exotic car cruise-in, and food trucks.
The event takes place at historic Woodley Farm, a 383-acre site at 490 Woodley Lane, just south of Berryville. It was originally bought by Daniel Sowers in the 1830s from George Washington’s cousin and has been used for fox hunting since. One of the unique attributes of the property is that it allows spectators to see the entire course at one time. The sanctioned races will be run as races two through five, beginning at 1:35 p.m.
