Aiken brings down curtain on NSA season

on Saturday at the beautiful new venue on Richland Avenue in Aiken, S.C., with a five-race card worth $130,000.

In addition, the Aiken Steeplechase Association will unveil it’s just completed three-floor tower at the finish line that offers a viewing area for owners and invited guests, a gathering place for pre-race officials meetings, a weigh station for jockeys, and a sweeping vantage point for the video crews covering the event.

The all-hurdle card itself consists of a $20,000 maiden claimer; a $25,000 115 handicap/optional claimer; a $20,000 maiden starter; a $30,000 maiden special weights contest; and the featured $35,000 Holiday Cup Sport of Kings four-year-old stakes.

First-race post time is 12 noon, and you can watch the races (courtesy of Brown Advisory) via live stream from www.nationalsteeplechase.com.

On Saturday night, after the races, the NSA will host its annual awards gala, in Aiken. Though the proceedings won’t be streamed live, the event will be recorded, and later be posted on the NSA web site.
